Thanks to Hallmark, we have a special day to celebrate the loves of our lives.<\/div>\n
So what was I going to do today since the love of my life, my sweet husband,<\/div>\n
was driving our youngest son\u2019s youth group to their winter retreat?<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Have a tea party, of course!<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
As you can imagine, there weren\u2019t many tea parties at our house as my boys were growing up.<\/div>\n
There were a few because I made sure to expose them to their English and Scottish roots.<\/div>\n
But now I have a sweet companion for tea parties and today was our first one.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
You can\u2019t have a tea party without cookies so we had to make them first.<\/div>\n

First, we measured the dry ingredients for sugar cookies and mixed them up.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

Then we added the butter and eggs and finished mixing up the cookie dough.<\/div>\n

Then we scooped them onto the cookie sheet and baked them.<\/div>\n
(Well, actually I scooped most of\u00a0them onto the cookie sheet.)<\/div>\n

While the cookies baked,<\/div>\n
we played her new Minnie Mouse Bow-tique Matching game.<\/div>\n
With rules that no one but her understood<\/div>\n
(as I am sure every Grandma understands!).<\/div>\n

Every baker knows that you have to sample the goods to maintain quality control.<\/div>\n
Although I am amazed at how much she got all over her\u00a0when only a half-bite got inside her.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
It\u2019s finally time for our Valentine’s Picnic Tea!<\/div>\n
And of course, it was set with my Chinese tea pot and cups,<\/div>\n
and fancy placemats and napkins.<\/div>\n
(No plastic and no “sippy” cups!)<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

Our menu was fit for a two-year-old princess\u2014<\/div>\n
mini corn dogs and tater tots with plenty of ketchup to dip, and banana slices with our cookies.<\/div>\n

She loved her huckleberry herbal tea (even without sugar)<\/div>\n
and really liked not having to drink out of a sippy cup!<\/div>\n

Sweet Missy Nora was a wonderful tea-time companion!<\/div>\n
