{"id":64,"date":"2014-06-02T18:39:00","date_gmt":"2014-06-03T01:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/myheart4home.com\/?p=64"},"modified":"2014-06-02T18:39:00","modified_gmt":"2014-06-03T01:39:00","slug":"healthy-can-be-delicious","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.myheart4home.com\/myheart4home.com\/healthy-can-be-delicious\/","title":{"rendered":"Healthy can be delicious\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: center;\">We have been trying to improve our health by reducing fats and refined foods in our diet. <\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">Tonight\u2019s dinner did both and tasted wonderful\u2014Italian meat sauce over zucchini pasta!<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">I started by browning a pound of chicken Italian sausage in my cast iron skillet. <\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">By using seasoned cast iron, I don\u2019t have to add fat to the pan like I do with my other pans. <\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">Just before adding chopped the chopped vegetables,<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">I deglaze the pan with a couple tablespoons of chicken broth.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/myheart4home.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Steam%25252520veggies%2525255B12%2525255D.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Steam veggies\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/myheart4home.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Steam%25252520veggies_thumb%2525255B9%2525255D.jpg?resize=500%2C306&#038;ssl=1\" height=\"306\" style=\"background-image: none; border: 0px currentColor; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;\" title=\"Steam veggies\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">I always have onions, carrots, celery, and garlic in my pantry or fridge <\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">so that is what I chopped and added to the sausage. <\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">The veggies have enough moisture in them that I can lower the temperature, <\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">put a lid on the pan and they will steam until tender. <\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/myheart4home.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Add%25252520tomatoes%25252520and%25252520sauce%2525255B10%2525255D.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Add tomatoes and sauce\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/myheart4home.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Add%25252520tomatoes%25252520and%25252520sauce_thumb%2525255B7%2525255D.jpg?resize=500%2C311&#038;ssl=1\" height=\"311\" style=\"background-image: none; border: 0px currentColor; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;\" title=\"Add tomatoes and sauce\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">When the carrots are tender, add a can of drained diced tomatoes and a can of tomato sauce. <\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">Stir in herbs. I add dried basil, oregano, marjoram, and parsley as well as salt and pepper. <\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">Cover and let simmer for at least 15 minutes or longer until the rest of dinner is ready.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/myheart4home.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Veggetti%2525255B10%2525255D.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Veggetti\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/myheart4home.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Veggetti_thumb%2525255B7%2525255D.jpg?resize=500%2C360&#038;ssl=1\" height=\"360\" style=\"background-image: none; border: 0px currentColor; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;\" title=\"Veggetti\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">I have seen a lot of advertisements for the tools that will make your veggies into pasta,<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;and last week I found one in the store. This particular one is called a Veggetti.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;I used it to turn zucchini into pasta.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/myheart4home.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Zucchini%25252520Pasta%2525255B10%2525255D.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Zucchini Pasta\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/myheart4home.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Zucchini%25252520Pasta_thumb%2525255B7%2525255D.jpg?resize=500%2C333&#038;ssl=1\" height=\"333\" style=\"background-image: none; border: 0px currentColor; display: inline; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;\" title=\"Zucchini Pasta\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">I washed the zucchini and trimmed the ends. Then using the Veggetti according to the directions,<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">&nbsp;I spiral cut the zucchini into pasta strings.
