I haven\u2019t learned what it is for<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">but when she applies that particular oil to my granddaughter,<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">Nora insists that she sings the \u201cJoy\u201d song.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">You know the one: \u201cI&#8217;ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy, down in my heart\u2026\u201d<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">Today as I walked back to my office after lunch, I thought about her sweet joy.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">I had spent most of my lunch hour whining (literally) to my husband about<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">how my time seemed to be so consumed by the needs of others that<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">I always feel like I am playing \u201ccatch up\u201d because there is no time to get ahead<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">and to do what I wanted to do. There was no time for me.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">It was really a rather sad tirade.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">Walking in the sunshine, my conscience was pricked by how selfish<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">I must have sounded during lunch. When did I become so absorbed<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0in me that helping and serving was no longer joyful?<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">It was time for a bit of confession and repentance for my bad attitude.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">A little tune that my Grandma Alice used to sing to me<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">when I would get grumpy as a child flitted through my mind:<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">Jesus and others and you<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">What a wonderful way to spell joy<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">Jesus and others and you<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">in the life of each girl and each boy<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8220;J&#8221; is for Jesus for He has first place,<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8220;O&#8221; is for others you meet face to face,<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8220;Y&#8221; is for you, in whatever you do,<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">Put your self third and spell JOY.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">I do believe that it is important to take scheduled time away to rest, refresh,<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">and renew our minds and hearts so we can be used by the Lord to serve others.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">But when the focus becomes skewed to being all about me and<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">what I want instead of spending time communing with the Lord<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0and preparing myself to serve Him and others, I have things out of balance.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">Proverbs 17:22 says, \u201cA joyful heart is good medicine, But a broken spirit dries up the bones.\u201d<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">I had a much better afternoon when I got the focus off of my own whining<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">and back on serving in the ways to which the Lord has called me.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">Is your joy abounding or do you need to find it?
