When I started my current job fourteen years ago,<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0I was on a ten year (max!) plan. That would allow me to put my three boys through college.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">That plan extended as I went back to school to finish my degree,<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">and then my husband went back to school to finish his degree.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">Our educations were miraculously paid for mostly by my job benefits.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">The plan has been extended again as the Lord has used this position to provide housing<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">for us on campus for a season. It would be easy to become agitated and restless<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0in what often feels like a temporary situation or a holding pattern.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">This afternoon as I sat in my office struggling with a short attention span and a long \u201cto do\u201d list,<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">the words to this old hymn kept flowing through my mind and heart.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>\u201cLet the Lord have His way <\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>In your life every day <\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>There\u2019s no rest, there\u2019s no peace <\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>Until the Lord has His way <\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>Place your life in His hands <\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>Rest secure in His plans <\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>Let the Lord <\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>Let the Lord have His way\u201d<\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">Peace began to flow as this hymn played through my head and heart.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">I love the old hymns and songs that I learned growing up in church. I remember as a child<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">getting to sit with my Grandma Hamar in church services and listen as she sang the hymns<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0with all her heart. As I grew older and was privileged to spend a lot of time with her<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0in my teen years, the words of those hymns would become the starting points for lessons<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">she had learned in life that she chose to share with me.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">I have noticed my agitation and restlessness starts when I try to second guess God\u2019s plans<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0or try to step ahead of His timing. The peace comes when I place my life back in His hands<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0and I rest secure in His plans, because I know that His ways are so much higher than mine.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">He sees the future when all I can see is fog and uncertainty.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">He knows what I really need when I just know what I think I need.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">He knows where I am needed when sometimes all I can see is where I want to be needed.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">It is only when I heed the Lord\u2019s instruction to \u201ccease striving and know that [He is] God\u201d<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">that I can find peace and rest in His plans for my life.
