<\/p>\nOn my morning \u201ccoffee break\u201d walk today, Pandora played \u201cStrange Way to Save the World.\u201d I have heard the song countless times but this morning it spoke to me like never before.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I cannot even imagine the emotions and questions that filled Joseph and Mary as they prepared for and became parents of Jesus who would become the Savior of the world. Overwhelmed must be an understatement as they struggled to grasp the message of the angels as to the impact this child would have on the world and eternity.<\/p>\n
We have all been there\u00a0thinking\u00a0the path before us was strange or didn’t seem right. We haven\u2019t been asked to parent the Christ-child but we have been asked to step into roles, endure situations or take on tasks that make us ask, \u201cWhy me? I\u2019m just\u2026\u201d or \u201cWhy here?\u201d And how many of us have said, \u201cI\u2019m not one to second guess God\u2019s plan, but\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
My last fifteen months have been that kind of strange–full of these questions as I have battled health issues that have distracted and disrupted my life and my peace. As I walked this morning, I was reminded that I am not alone or unique in my struggles but I have a source of peace and strength that is inexhaustible, ever-flowing and never ending!<\/p>\n
It may be that knowing the \u201cwhy\u201d would make me more distracted and more anxious. The Scripture that brought peace as I walked this morning is in Isaiah 55:9 (NASB): \u201cFor as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thought than your thoughts.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Lord knows the \u201cwhy\u201d and is not disturbed by it, but He knows that I may be so He keeps it to Himself. How often do we do that as parents when our children are young and there are situations in the home or world that are more than they would be able to understand? We try to shield their hearts, minds, and spirits from worry and fear as we try to handle the situation. We are not always successful in our efforts but God is always successful in His. If we will take Him at His Word, we can have peace. His Word tells us to \u201cTrust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.\u201d (Proverbs 3:5-6 NASB)<\/p>\n
Are you trusting Him or trying to find your own solutions? I have to ask myself this every morning.<\/p>\n
Are you acknowledging Him and His directions or are you trying to find your own path? My path often is a rabbit trail to confusion and distraction but His path directs me to peace and comfort even in the middle of trials and difficulties.<\/p>\n
I invite you to seek Him for the answer to the chaos and confusion that may be overwhelming you!<\/p>\n
