I had hoped to post this completed project earlier but life doesn\u2019t always follow the path we want or expect. I love doing family history research especially when I \u201cmeet\u201d someone online that has photos of our ancestors and they are willing to share. This is my latest family picture project.<\/p>\n

\"Family<\/a><\/p>\n

The center frame holds pictures of our immediately family from before our marriage to now. The frames on each side hold pictures of our parents and ancestors that I have collected through my family research.<\/p>\n

To create the frames, I followed the basic directions on the Goodwillionaire Blog (http:\/\/goodwillionaire.blogspot.com\/2012\/01\/pinspiration-phabulous-photo-phrame.html<\/a>) that I found on Pinterest. I started with a set of picture frames that I have had for years and just hadn\u2019t bothered to put pictures in them.<\/p>\n

Instead of painting the frames, I stained and crackles them to give them the appearance of antique frames and I stained the mini-clothes pins to match. Then I assembled the frames with hangers and wire \u201cclotheslines\u201d according to the directions on the blog.<\/p>\n

For my pictures, I used Picassa  to make copies, crop the photos and and tint them for consistency. Some of the photos were sepia and some were black & white, and I wanted them all to be similar.<\/p>\n

The frame on the left holds photos of my husband\u2019s ancestors and the frame on the right are from my family tree. I especially love these pictures of my dad and mom when they were children!<\/p>\n

I encourage you to pull those old photos out of boxes, scan them and use them to decorate your home and remind you of your roots. It helps me to appreciate the determination and struggles that brought our families from Norway, England, Scotland, and Germany  to America and where we are today. I am especially thankful for those that lived lives of faith and passed that heritage down through the generations!<\/p>\n
