Moments of Grace for a Woman’s Heart
for my morning quiet time.
This morning it centered on the verse that I chose for my focus for this year:
“Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet:
but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
–Philippians 3:13-14, NASB
She included this quote D.L. Moody, nineteenth-century American evangelist,
had written in the margin of his Bible by Philippians 3:13:
“Men may be divided into two classes–
those who have a ‘one thing’ and those who have no ‘one thing’ to do:
those with aim in their lives and those without aim in their lives…
The aim in life is what the backbone is to the body:
Without it we are invertebrate [spineless, weak, and weak-willed].”
Wow! What a wake up call!
I don’t want to be spineless, weak, and weak-willed!
I affirm my commitment to the “one thing” that God has called me to:
“…forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward
[I commit myself to a day and a life of reaching forward]
[relationship, vision, health]
for the prize
[eternal reward]
of the upward call
[ministry to my family, church, and community]
of God in Christ Jesus.”
I desire to be a woman that is strong in my walk with God and faithful in my pursuit of His call.
Will you join me today in committing to the “one thing” to which God has called you?
I would love to hear from you about what God is speaking to your heart!
Loving the call that God has given me for a heart for home!
