Thanks to Hallmark, we have a special day to celebrate the loves of our lives.
So what was I going to do today since the love of my life, my sweet husband,
was driving our youngest son’s youth group to their winter retreat?
Have a tea party, of course!
As you can imagine, there weren’t many tea parties at our house as my boys were growing up.
There were a few because I made sure to expose them to their English and Scottish roots.
But now I have a sweet companion for tea parties and today was our first one.
You can’t have a tea party without cookies so we had to make them first.

First, we measured the dry ingredients for sugar cookies and mixed them up.

Then we added the butter and eggs and finished mixing up the cookie dough.

Then we scooped them onto the cookie sheet and baked them.
(Well, actually I scooped most of them onto the cookie sheet.)

While the cookies baked,
we played her new Minnie Mouse Bow-tique Matching game.
With rules that no one but her understood
(as I am sure every Grandma understands!).

Every baker knows that you have to sample the goods to maintain quality control.
Although I am amazed at how much she got all over her when only a half-bite got inside her.

It’s finally time for our Valentine’s Picnic Tea!
And of course, it was set with my Chinese tea pot and cups,
and fancy placemats and napkins.
(No plastic and no “sippy” cups!)
Our menu was fit for a two-year-old princess—
mini corn dogs and tater tots with plenty of ketchup to dip, and banana slices with our cookies.
Finger food at its finest!

She loved her huckleberry herbal tea (even without sugar)
and really liked not having to drink out of a sippy cup!

Sweet Missy Nora was a wonderful tea-time companion!
I am so blessed by the love that this sweet little girl has brought into my heart and life!
I love sharing with her my heart for home!!
